These terms cover the lordos.org website and the LordOS files you download from it or from our GitHub releases (the ISO image, the Raspberry Pi image, the .deb package and the Debian installer script). LordOS is a free Debian-based GNU/Linux distribution with its own desktop environment, made by the iPERFEX group (Pablo Miranda and Federico Pereira, Argentina).
Acceptance#
By using this website or downloading, installing or running LordOS, you accept these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use the website or the software.
Free software under the MIT license#
LordOS's own code is free software released under the MIT license. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute it under that license. The license, not these terms, governs what you may do with the code; these terms only add the rules for the website, the downloads and the LordOS name (see the Trademark and brand policy).
LordOS also includes software from Debian and other projects under their own licenses. See Licenses and open-source notices.
Beta software#
LordOS is in beta. Features may be incomplete, change or be removed, and there may be bugs that cause data loss or make a computer fail to start. Don't rely on it for critical work, and don't install it on a computer whose data you can't afford to lose.
No warranty#
LordOS and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the software will work on your hardware, be free of errors or security problems, or that the website will always be available.
Limitation of liability#
To the fullest extent the law allows, the iPERFEX group, the authors and the contributors are not liable for any damage arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the website or LordOS. That includes loss of data, loss of profits, hardware damage, interrupted work and any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damage, even if we were told it could happen. Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limits; in those, they apply as far as the law permits.
Your responsibility#
- Back up first. Installing a GNU/Linux distribution can erase a disk. Copy everything you care about to another device before you install LordOS, partition a disk, or run the Debian installer script.
- Check what you run. Verify the download's SHA-256 and signature (see the Security policy) and read what the installer is going to change before you confirm.
- Your computer, your choices. You are responsible for how you install, configure and use LordOS, for the software you add to it, and for complying with the laws and licenses that apply to you.
Third-party software and links#
LordOS installs and runs software made by others (Debian packages, web browsers, Linux apps from the Store, .lpk apps by other developers). That software has its own licenses and terms, and its authors, not us, are responsible for it. The website links to other sites, such as GitHub, PayPal and Mercado Pago; we don't control them and are not responsible for their content or their practices.
Donations#
Donations are voluntary and don't buy any product, service, support or special treatment. They are covered by the Donation terms.
Governing law#
These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic, and any dispute will be handled by the competent courts of the Argentine Republic, unless the law of your country gives you a right that can't be waived.
Changes#
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the last change. If you keep using the website or LordOS after a change, you accept the new terms.
